If you asked me to name my favorite Disney princess, without a beat I would say Ariel.
The Little Mermaid first came out in 1989, when I was six years old. I have distinct memories of seeing the movie in the theater with my dad. It was awesome! After all, what little girl didn’t dream of being a mermaid with a fish and crab for best friends? I definitely made my reluctant brothers reenact with me several scenes from the movie in our basement. The worn-out copy of our VHS tape would be playing in the background on the old console TV set.
The songs were catchy and have stuck with me over all these years. “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World” are definitely some of my favorite,… what are they called? Oh, yeah… songs.
And now I’m excited because it seems my daughter, Lux, has the same affinity for Ariel. She LOVES The Little Mermaid! She has Ariel pajamas, a swimsuit, dolls, a Halloween costume, and even insists that we name her new baby brother or sister Ariel. We’ll have to see about that.
The movie is finally being released from the Disney vault on October 1, 2013. I am thrilled to share the full-length movie with Lux and Knox. Especially now that the film has been digitally-restored and released in Blu-ray 3D™, Blu-ray, Digital Copy and HD and SD Digital formats. Technology is great! Disney also added tons of fun bonus features that I can’t wait to check out. I am excited for you to experience them as well.
I am giving away to one lucky commenter a copy of The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition 2-Disc Blu-ray+DVD Combo Pack with Digital Copy!
